Bills Ask Permission to Speak to Panthers Assistant GM Brandon Beane

The Panthers have confirmed the Bills have requested permission to interview assistant GM Brandon Beane, Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News reports.

Beane, 39, has spent his entire 19-year career with the Panthers, the last six of those with current Bills coach Sean McDermott on Carolina’s staff as defensive coordinator. Because of that familiarity, Beane has been rumored to be a favorite for the job even before the firing of Doug Whaley became official Sunday morning.

Beane was named the Panthers’ assistant GM in June 2015. Before that, he served as as the director of football operations and served as interim general manager in 2012 before the Panthers hired Dave Gettleman. Beane interviewed with the San Francisco 49ers in January before they ultimately hired John Lynch.
