Could The Buffalo Bills Sneak A Playoff Spot This Season?

Last weekend, the Buffalo Bills fell agonizingly short in a 13-7 road defeat to the Baltimore Ravens.

Whilst Rex Ryan’s men only managed to score seven points, there were plenty of positives to take away from that particular defeat – and things can only get better as the Bills look to reach the playoffs for the first time since 1999…

Ultimately, Buffalo have one of the best defensive units in the National Football League and the Bills will prosper from their steel and energy on defense.

Ryan’s new-look defense, with Preston Brown and Jerry Hughes making their Buffalo debuts, held Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco to just 192 yards; which included a 66-yard touchdown pass to Mike Wallace.

If you ignore that particular mistake, the Bills were more than able to cope with Baltimore’s offense – and Buffalo fans will take plenty of confidence from that statistic.

The AFC East is one of the toughest divisions in football and the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Miami Dolphins will all fancy their chances of emerging victorious.

On paper, Bill Belichick’s New England side are in the strongest position right now but a shock defeat or two whilst Tom Brady is suspended could be detrimental to their aspirations of winning yet another AFC East crown.

If the Bills perform at their very best, the AFC East title is within their reach – but it might be wise to focus primarily on finishing with a positive win ratio; an achievement that will give them an outside chance of snatching a wildcard spot.

At the time of writing, Buffalo are 7/1 to win the AFC East – and these Betway odds shouldn’t be missed out. A solid effort on both offense and defense will give the Bills a great opportunity to go all the way and win the crown…

With LeSean “Shady” McCoy and Tyrod Taylor, Buffalo have a potent running offense and Ryan will look to utilize that against the New York Jets. In that all-AFC East clash, a victory is essential for Buffalo to build momentum and avoid playing catch up.

The Bills are a defensive-minded side but McCoy, Charles Clay and wide receiver Sammy Watkins are all capable of making a game-changing play on offense. Write Buffalo off at your peril; that is when the Bills are most successful..

With their backs against the wall, Buffalo can bounce back and win at the first time of asking. With the Patriots looking strong, second place is all to play for and that could be enough to secure a playoff spot. Taylor might not be a franchise quarterback for the future but he is capable of firing the Bills to the postseason at the very least.
