Bills WR Sammy Watkins Heads the List of 10 Players Not Cleared to Practice

The Bills will be a little short-staffed to start training camp as a whopping ten players were not cleared to begin practicing according to the team’s official website.

Leading that list is No.1 wide receiver Sammy Watkins, who underwent surgery to repair a stress fracture in his foot in April. Watkins recently suggested that he is close to being 100 percent healthy and his stay on the PUP list is only expected to last a few days. There is no doubt he will be ready for Week 1 of the regular season barring setbacks.

Joining Watkins on the active/PUP list are defensive tackle Kyle Williams (still recovering from November knee surgery), wide receiver Marcus Easley, and rookie first-round pick Shaq Lawson, whose entire rookie season is in doubt after it was discovered he needed shoulder surgery shortly after being drafted. All reports are that Lawson’s rehab is going well and he might be ready by October.

Several players were put on the non-football inury list including linebacker Manny Lawson, who injured himself recently during a workout, and wideout Kolby Listenbee. Defensive tackle Marcell Dareus, defensive back Jonathan Dowling, tackle Seantrel Henderson, and running back Karlos Williams are all on the non-football illness list. It should be noted that Karlos Williams “illness’ is that he showed up to June minicamp 20 pounds overweight and is totally out of shape.

The Bills first preseason game is set for August 13th at against the Indianapolis Colts. If you are looking to start hot this football season and claim a bonus, take a look at this big preseason matchup when you are looking at the odds for preseason NFL action.
