Bills WR Marquise Goodwin Falls Short in Bid to Make the Olympics

For a few minutes Sunday, Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was in position to earn one of three long jump positions on the U.S. Olympic Track and Field team for the Rio de Janeiro Games, fulfilling his dream, the Buffalo News reports.

Goodwin had climbed from seventh to third place with a leap of 27 feet, 3/4 inch on his third attempt in the first round of the long jump finals Sunday in Eugene, Ore. It was early though.

Eventually, four others beat his best effort and Goodwin finished seventh in the final standings. As it turned out, the former University of Texas athlete needed to approach his personal best of 27.8.67 in the final round to make the top three and qualify for the Olympic team.
