Police in Philadelphia Recommending Charges Against McCoy for Alleged Assault

Buffalo Bills v Washington Redskins

Police investigators in the city of Philadelphia are recommending the District Attorney’s office file criminal charges against Bills running back LeSean McCoy for his alleged assault last Sunday according to ABC News Philadelphia.

Arrest warrants for McCoy and and three other alleged assailants are expected to be served Wednesday or Thursday. McCoy is being accused of assaulting two off-duty police officers at a Philadelphia nightclub last Saturday night/Sunday morning. According to a news source, the police officers had ordered multiple bottles of champagne and one of the men with McCoy grabbed a bottle out of one of the cop’s hands.

That led to an argument, police said, and one of the police officers was punched and knocked to the ground. While on the ground, Philadelphia police say that officer was punched, kicked and stomped on his body and head multiple times by all four suspects. The second officer, along with security guards, went to break it up, and everyone involved was then ejected from the club. Both officers suffered significant injuries and were taken to the hospital.

No action has yet been taken against McCoy by either the Bills or the league office. At the very least, it seems likely that McCoy could spend some time on the exempt list while the legal situation is sorted out.
