Bills Wide Out Marquise Goodwin Named to USA Pan Am Team

Green Bay Packers v Buffalo Bills

Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin was one of 623 athletes named to Team USA on Monday to compete in the 2015 Pan American Games, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.

Goodwin will compete in the long jump at the Games, which will be held from July 10 to 26 in Toronto.

Qualifying for the men’s long jump is scheduled to take place on July 21 with the final set for July 22.

Goodwin, 24, finished fourth in the long jump at the U.S. championships last month, just missing out on a spot at world championships. His best attempt was 27 feet, 5½ inches.

Before that, Goodwin hadn’t competed since the 2012 London Games. He was drafted by the Bills in the third round of the 2013 draft.

Goodwin was a two-time NCAA champion and seven-time All-American at the University of Texas, despite having to make the quick transition from the football field to the track. He earned a spot on the U.S. squad for the 2011 world championships in South Korea as a 20-year-old. Then, a year later, he made the Olympic team, finishing 10th in London.
