Jim Schwartz Gets a Ride After Bills Beat Lions 17-14

Buffalo Bills v Detroit Lions

The Bills were able to rally today for a huge win over the Lions, but what happened after the game was a little head scratching – win or lose.

After the game ended thanks to a 58-yard field goal from Dan Carpenter, the Bills put defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz on their shoulders and carried him off the field.

Huh?

Schwartz was the head coach of the Lions for five seasons and compiled a 29-51 record, but lost his job after a 7-9 season in 2013. Word is the move was premeditated by Schwartz, a rather odd move for a guy that was fired in Detroit.

Nevertheless, the win was a big one for the Bills, and one that was helped by the fact that Lions kicker Alex Henery missed three field goals, including a 50-yarder that likely would have won the game with under 30 seconds left.

The Bills took over at their own 40-yard line, and Sammy Watkins made an incredible 20-yard catch to set up Carpenter’s unlikely field goal for the big win.
