Bills Already Chatting with Possible Free Agents Kirk Morrison and Demetrius Bell

It sounds like some of the bigger name players that the Bills are possibly on the verge of losing in free agency are talking to the team about sticking around.

Speaking with WGR 550’s Joe Buscaglia from the 2012 NFL Combine in Indianapolis on Thursday, Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey confirmed that the team is negotiating with impending free agent linebacker Kirk Morrison to return as the team’s new strong-side outside linebacker in the 4-3 defense.

Gailey also confirmed to Buscaglia that the team has been negotiating to retain the services of left tackle Demetrius Bell, as well. Paired with the news that the team will be meeting Friday with the agent for receiver Stevie Johnson, we now know of recent negotiations for three of the team’s top free agents.

It’s good news about both players, as losing Bell would be a huge blow, and he’s one of the better tackles in free agency, so if he hits the open market, he’s probably gone.

Morrison didn’t do much last year in the teams 3-4 base, but word is he will be a starter this season, and could have a big season if he is back with the Bills in 2012.

I agree with what you said about Bell. It would be a “huge blow” if we lost him. We do need to get him back or else he will be attacked by other teams who want him. It is true that Morrison didn’t do much last year, but the Bills could use anyone they can get, especially some one who has so much potential. Good post.
