Bills Sign LB Antonio Coleman off Giants Practice Squad

As initially reported by Mike Garafolo of The Star-Ledger, the Bills have signed linebacker Antonio Coleman off the Giants’ practice squad.

Signed by the Bills as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn in 2010, Coleman had 12 tackles (five on special teams) in eight games before he was placed on injured reserve with a knee injury. Coleman had eight tackles and a quarterback sack for the Bills during the preseason, but was waived at the end of training camp.

Coleman had been on the Giants’ practice squad for much of the 2011 season. By signing with the Bills, Coleman is guaranteed three game checks ($79,412 total), regardless of whether or not he remains on the active roster.

The Bills had an open spot after placing linebacker Shawne Merriman on injured reserve on Tuesday.

New York has signed fullback Alex Daniels to replace Coleman on their practice squad.
