At the Half, Bills Lead Chiefs 20-7

At halftime in Kansas City, the Buffalo Bills lead the Chiefs 20-7.

The Bills built off their 14-0 first quarter lead with a pair of Rian Lindell field goals in the second quarter.  Lindell’s 29 yard field goal capped off a nine play, 50-yard drive to make it 17-0 with 6:42 left in the second quarter.

On the Chiefs’ ensuing possession, the Bills forced a fumble by Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles that was recovered by Leodis McKelvin.  The Bills, however, couldn’t get much going gaining only one yard on four plays.  Buffalo relied on Lindell once again with a 38-yard field goal to make it 20-0 with 5:38 left to play in the half.

Kansas City responded with authority, going on a lengthy 11-play drive covering 81 yards in 3:52.  The Chiefs ended the drive with Matt Cassel six-yard touchdown pass to Charles to make it 20-7.

Ryan Fitzpatrick went 8-of-15 for 124 yards and two touchdown passes.  His counterpart, Matt Cassel, finished the first half 11-of-17 for 87 yards and one touchdown.  The Chiefs outrushed the Bills 80-57 in the first half.  Buffalo outgained Kansas City in the first half 183-153 while forcing two Chiefs’ turnovers, both of which were fumbles.
