Bills Sign Four Draft Picks on Eve of Training Camp

With the players reporting to training camp tomorrow and beginning to practice on Saturday afternoon, the Bills got to work on Thursday getting their rookies under contract.  Buffalo announced they’ve signed four of their draft picks, however, the prize of the Bills’ rookie class, Marcell Dareus, remains unsigned.

Earlier this afternoon, the Bills signed their seventh round pick Bethel nose tackle Michael Jasper.  Jasper will report to camp as the fourth nose tackle on the Bills’ depth chart and isn’t likely to unseat either Kyle Williams or Torrell Troup for playing time.

Buffalo signed their second draft pick around 5 p.m., agreeing on a four-year deal with Clemson offensive tackle Chris Hairston.  Hairston, Buffalo’s fourth-round selection in last April’s draft, is viewed as a project along the offensive line, but could develop into a starting right tackle a few years down the line.

Shortly after 10 p.m. on Thursday, the Bills concluded the day by signing two more rookies to contracts, sixth-round pick inside linebacker Chris White from Mississippi and seventh-round pick Richmond cornerback Justin Rogers.  Rogers heads to camp sixth on the team’s cornerback depth chart.  Even though we’re in the infant stages of the season and camp hasn’t begun, given Paul Posluszny’s recent defection the Bills are walking a thin line at inside linebacker, if the Bills are unable to address their inside linebacker needs through free agency or trade, White could see more playing time than originally anticipated.
