Bills Preview: Madden 2011

With training camp 13 days away, and little noise coming out of One Bills Drive, I thought it would be fun to take a look at this year’s version of one of the most successful video game franchises of all time; EA Sports: Madden 2011.

Before video game systems such as Xbox 360, or Playstation 3 came about, my favorite Madden was Madden 94 for Sega Genesis. Of course the graphics and gameplay can’t even compare to today’s game, but who can complain when you are able to play as not only the 1994 Buffalo Bills, but also the 1990-1993 Superbowl teams.

I will admit, when I play on the newer versions (for the PS3), I can’t help but play as the Buffalo Bills. The Bills were ranked towards the bottom of the pack in Madden 2010, and there will be no help in sight for Madden 2011.

The Buffalo Bills find themselves with the second to worse team ranking at 67 with only the St. Louis Rams coming in at 66 below them. Rounding out the top five teams in this year’s game are: New Orleans Saints (92), Indianapolis Colts (91), Baltimore Ravens (90), New York Jets (89) and the Minnesota Vikings (88).

As far as the Bills’ player rankings go, it is almost comical. The highest ranked player on the Bills squad comes in at 90, and you won’t find this player on offense or on defense, because the best player of the Bills squad this year is punter, Brian Moorman.

On Offense, the Bills aren’t looking very good, and it should come as no surprise to see that both Quarterbacks Ryan Fitzpatrick and Trent Edwards both come in with only a player rating of 70. While Lee Evans leads the offense with an 84, I’m happy to announce that EA Sports showed rookie running back C.J Spiller some respect. The rookie has an overall ranking of 79 in his first year in the game, with his speed and acceleration coming in at 95 and 97 respectfully, which should prove to give Bills’ users a nice weapon to play with.

On Defense, the players are ranked mostly in the mid 70’s to mid 80’s and that should be enough to keep most you in most game when using the Bills. The Bills best unit to take advantage of is their defensive backs, with five players coming in with a ranking of 80 or over (second year J. Byrd ranks highest in this unit with an 87).

Madden 2011 comes out in stores on August 10th. Think you have what it takes to beat me in a game? Feel free to leave you PS3 gamertag and why you feel you’d be a good opponent!
