Lynch Suspended First Three Games of 09 Season

The league has stepped up and has suspended Bills running back Marshawn Lynch for three games for violating its personal conduct policy. The suspension means that Lynch will miss the first three games of the 09 season.

No word yet, but it is very possible that Lynch will appeal the penalty.
The suspension comes from Lynch pleading guilty last month to a charge of having a concealed firearm in a vehicle. He was handed probation and community service.

Last year, Lynch pleaded guilty to a traffic violation after a vehicle that he was driving struck a pedestrian who sustained minor injuries.
In the latest incident, Lynch was arrested in February in California after police officers reportedly found a handgun inside a backpack in the trunk of a car in which he was a passenger.

The backpack contained other items belonging to Lynch, according to prosecutors. He pleaded guilty early last month to a misdemeanor weapon charge. Lynch was sentenced to 80 hours community service and three years probation.

Earlier today, the Bills released a statement about the suspension:

“We have been informed by the league as to Commissioner [Roger] Goodell’s decision regarding the suspension of Marshawn Lynch.

“We fully support the NFL Personal Conduct Policy and believe that Marshawn is committed to conducting himself responsibly. When he spoke to the media recently, he talked about making changes and better decisions and we feel that he is moving forward in a positive direction.”
