Bills Seem Set on Edwards at QB for 2009 – Should They?

It looks as if the Bills are going to stay with Trent Edwards as their QB of the future. The latest Pro Football Weekly says that the team is going to make a stand with him as their starting QB for the 2009 season:

Any inkling that the Bills are questioning their decision to keep Trent Edwards as their clear-cut starting quarterback was quashed at the Combine with coach Dick Jauron’s effusive praise. “He got bigger and stronger last year over the previous year, (and) I think he’ll do the same this year,” Jauron said of his third-year quarterback, who struggled during the second half of the 2008 season. “He knows significantly more than last year. I’m very optimistic, almost entirely because the man has talent, he’s a good guy and he works at it.”

Edwards started 2008 fast, but was never the same after the concussion he suffered in Arizona October 5th. He threw for 2699 yards with 11 TD’s and 10 picks. I would think the Bills would take a hard look at a vet in the free agent market to make sure if Edwards struggles they have somewhere to turn. Dick Jauron could be sinking or swimming with Edwards in the 2009 season.

Of course they are going to go with Trent for 2009 … what are thier other options? Jp? … that shouldnt even cross anyones mind. They gave JP 5 years to get in the grove and he never did … so lets give Trent more than 1 1/2 seasons … GO BILLS

Buffalo is famous for giving average talent many chances. Trent Edwards is a basic quarterback at best and Buffalo needs to find a quality quarterback to really move them up in capability. The Bills were so patient and optimistic with JP Losman and I said for years, he just cannot throw medium and long passes with any accuracy at all and that will never change. T.O. is a welcome addition as he can make any quarterback look good. Forget about his antics on the field and in the press, see him for what he is and that is a talented receiver. When he complains about being wide open and not seen by the quarterback, he is generally right. Buffalo needs to goom a top notch quarterback for the immediate future. BTW what is the deal with so much attention to Toronto? Could the Bills be moving there??? The “Toronto Bills”, I think not, ow about the “Toronto Mounties”? I hope not, I would hate to see the Bills ever leave Buffalo, that is the only thing the city of Buffalo has left and it is surprising that the city and county governments in WNY havent F—ed that up.

One other point, if the Buffalo News needs a column writer for Buffalo and the Bills as well as other topics like the U.S. Postal Service and their onging stupidity, please let me know and I will return to Buffalo to take the job.
    Regards, Vin
