Jauron Already Locked Up Past 2008?

While there is heavy heat on head coach Dick Jauron for the collapse of the Bills in 2008, owner Ralph Wilson reportedly has decided that Jauron is going to stick around. ESPN reported the following tidbit on Jauron and his status as Bills coach:

Despite going on a 1-7 slide that left the Buffalo Bills out of the playoffs, coach Dick Jauron signed an extension on Sunday, sources told ESPN. The deal runs through the 2011 season. ESPN and the NFL Network reported on Oct. 26 that the coach had agreed to the deal.

If this is indeed true, this is an amazing turn of events for Jauron, who took the blame for the call yesterday that in the end cost the Bills the game, as the team went for a pass play that resulted in a fumble and eventual score for the Jets in the 31-27 loss.

Jauron and his staff have been under tremendous heat during the recent 1-7 streak, and many in Buffalo have been calling for his head. It will be interesting to see if this rumor ends up being true, and if it is, if Ralph Wilson stands by it and keep Jauron around after this season.
