Slow Start – Fast Finish as Bills Top Rams 31-14

Once Again the Bills decided to wait until the fourth quarter before showing up to play, but once again the Bills prevail, beating the Rams 31-14. The Bills played down to the level of the abysmal Saint Louis Rams for three quarters, giving the 0-3 Rams hope. However, Jabari Greer’s pick-6 on the first play of the fourth quarter put the Bills up 20-14, a lead they would never relinquish.

On the Bills’ next drive, Lee Evans and Trent Edwards connected on a 39 yard TD pass to put the Bills up 26-14. After the 2-point conversion succeeded, many Rams fans started heading for the exits.

Once again Trent Edwards seemed to step up his play when it really mattered, making a beautiful pass to Evans on the touchdown that would put the game out of reach.

The Rams, much like the Raiders last week, seemed to come out desperate. Their inspired play however, wore off after Trent Green’s interception, which put the Bills ahead. Despite a 100+ yard performance from their running back Steven Jackson, the Rams’ offense once again seemed inept against the Bills’ formidable defense.

The Bills move to 4-0 for the first time in 16 years, and will face the Arizona Cardinals next week.

  1. Paul Section 129 says:

Are the Bills just coming out playing tight, or am I imagining that? In games 3 & 4, the Bills running game has not met my modest expectations, which has put a lot of stress on the game plan. It seems that we have dodged a couple bullets by making big adjustments in the 4th quarter, and those have saved us from being 2 and 2. Still, the good news is we are closing out our games, and coming from behind to do when we’ve had to. That is huge and a testament to the Bills conditioning both physically and mentally. Let’s see if these guys are self correcting. Play with more rythm and a little looser physically in the first half while maintaining that great focus they show in the 4th quarters. This team could be for real THIS YEAR. Let’s Go Bills!
