Despite 10 Points, the Job Still Belongs to Edwards

Losman vs the Jets

Don’t think that two scoring drives is going to change the mind of Bills head coach Dick Jauron when it comes to who will start at QB for the Bills.  Trent Edwards is going to still be the teams signal caller once he is back to 100 percent and ready to go, which may be as early as next week depending on his right wrist injury.  Jauron was happy to see backup J.P. Losman come in and lead the team to 10 points in their 13-3 win over the Jets, but was not ready to hand him back the starting job he officially gave to Edwards last week.  “Sometimes [you get a spark],” said Jauron, “and sometimes it goes the other way. Luckily, this time it went well for us. We’ve said all along J.P. has handled this whole situation very professionally and he’s prepared himself to play in the past two weeks really well. He stayed involved in everything, and it paid off for him and for us today.”

Losman was a team player last week when told he was being replaced as the starter, and as team captain he needs to be the same way this week or whenever the job gets handed back to to Edwards when he is healthy enough to play again.  Losman ended his postgame comments though by taking the low road, insinuating that his fate was being decided by upper management, the very people that drafted Edwards, and not Jauron or the coaching staff.
