Evans Endorses Losman as Bills Starting QB

Edwards avoids a sack

Despite winning a game not many thought they would win, and losing a game to a superior team that they should have won, not everyone is convinced that rookie QB Trent Edwards should keep the signal caller’s job for the Bills.  One player on the Bills that thinks that J.P. Losman should get his job back is wide out Lee Evans, who gave an endorsement to Losman on Tuesday.

“I don’t think it’s really a controversy, in my opinion,” Evans said. “Take it with a grain of salt, but when J.P.’s back and J.P.’s healthy, it’s still his position to lose. I think J.P. has played well given the circumstances he’s had and given everything that’s gone on. He’s played well. But if they make that change, they make that change. But my opinion is I think its J.P.’s job.”

Evans is not having the same type of solid season he’s had in the past, as so far in five games he’s caught just 12 passes for 112 yards.  Against the Cowboys Monday night he hauled in just one catch for 12 yards.  “Sometimes you’ve got to take chances. We really didn’t do that. There were opportunities there, the coach [Dick Jauron] is right. But we didn’t take them. It was one of those games where we were at times moving the ball a little bit. We checked it down and kept it short. We really didn’t take a big chance.”

As for Losman, he says he should be 100 percent from his sprained knee by the time the team gets set to practice for the Ravens next week.  “I guess I’ve got to prove to the coaches I’m healthy,” Losman said. “I’m pretty confident that I can show them I can play.”  Now the question will be who the coaches think should play under center.
