Not Much Better – Bills Pounded by Pats 38-7

Losman watches

The New England Patriots had a rather slow start Sunday vs Buffalo at home, but it didn’t take long for their offense to get in stride as they found it often in their romping 38-7 win over the Bills. The AFC’s #1 offense struck first after JP Loseman went down with a knee injury after the Bills first possession which was a turnover. The Patriots went up 3-0 and then Trent Edwards drove the Bills down the field to their first red zone touchdown of the season. At that point the Patriots made a few adjustments on defense and future Hall of Famer Tom Brady picked apart the Bills defense to the tune of 311 yards and 4 TD passes. My least favorite player in the NFL Randy Moss caught the last strike early in the 4th quarter to give the Patriots their largest lead of the game at 38-7.

The biggest blow for the Bills had to be Paul Posluszny going down with an arm injury early in the second quarter. The defense lost one of their captains and the Patriots took advantage on the very next possession as Tom Brady marched the Pats down for a Benjamin Watson touchdown to make it 10-7. 3 minutes later the Pats were at it again right before the half as Brady connected with Randy Moss with 1:17 remaining in the first half to extend the lead to 17-7 and they didn’t look back.

Trent Edwards was running for his dear life all afternoon as the NFL’s #1 defense showed just that as they gave up 101 yards passing and Marshawn Lynch 20 carries for 74 yards was held under 4 yards a carry. On the New England side Tom Brady (23/29, 311 yards 4TD) was just super as the Pats 3-0 had Maroney rushing at will for over 100 yards and Brady hit 8 different receivers on the day. The Pats ended up with 465 yards of total offense to the Bills 170. This was a microcosm of 2 half’s that began late in the second quarter. The Patriots scored 35 unanswered points and Buffalo needs another play maker. The Buffalo receiving core didn’t have 1 receiver catch more than 2 balls on the entire day. New England and Buffalo remain perfect on the season. New England is 3-0 while Buffalo remains perfect at 0-3.
