Week 2 Preview: Bills at Steelers

Losman must have a better day Sudnay

Pittsburgh’s week 1 dispatching of the Browns, followed by 5 injuries on the defensive side for Buffalo can only mean the 9 point favored Steelers will have another cakewalk in week 2.

The facts are the Steelers laid it on a Browns secondary, who are much more talented than the Bills secondary who gave up over 400 yards of offense in a loss to Denver as time expired. Buffalo makes their first trip to Heinz field and the Steelers have won the last 5 times these teams have faced one another. Buffalo hasn’t won a regular season game in the Steel City since 1975.

JP Losman has to hold it together and he has to roll out of the pocket and hit receivers on the run. The Steelers will be bringing it on defense and the offensive line needs to give JP enough time to make the appropriate decisions to keep Buffalo in the game.

Rookie Marshawn Lynch will be the main target of Pittsburgh’s defense. Shut down Marshawn and you improve your record to 2-0. Outside of a special teams
touchdown and 1 rushing touchdown the Bills offense was non existent against Denver.

Buffalo barely aired out last week and if the pressure is constant and there is man to man coverage then JP has to move the chains and look at his core of receivers. With Lee Evans catching 2 balls for 5 yards and the return of Peerless Price and his 1 catch for -2 yards. What where the Bills thinking bringing back Peerless? He didn’t want to be here the last time and then Marv brings him back?

The Bills have to contain Willie Parker, if he hits for 100 yards it’ll be a long Sunday and trip back home for Buffalo. Ben Roethlisberger actually likes to spread the wealth throwing the ball. Containing TE Heath Miller is crucial for Buffalo to stay in the game. On 3rd down Ben loves to throw to his ace in the hole and Super Bowl XL MVP Hines Ward, as he scored once last week and 3 of the 4 balls he caught went for first downs.

Ball control is the name of the game and the Bills right now with all the injuries and the lack of defense won’t be able to control the clock offensively. Even with the emotions of Kevin EverettĀ  and his injury this week, the Steelers narrowly get by the Bills.
