Edwards the Key as Bills Top Lions 16-13 in Preason Finale

Lynch runs

Trent Edwards shined on the preseason stage for the Bills on Thursday night, as Buffalo topped the Lions 16-13 at Ford Field to wrap up the preseason. Edwards put together a 90-yard drive that set up the game-winning field goal with 1:46 left. He ended the night going 18-for-24 for 182 yards. He made sure that the coaching staff was convinced to keep him as the second string QB, ahead of Craig Nall. J.P. Losman, who will start the season for the Bills under center, played just a bit, going 5-for-6 for 43 yards in two drives. Buffalo was not going to risk a major injury in the meaningless preseason finale, and sat The several players, including receiver Lee Evans and cornerback Terrence McGee.

The Bills offense put up 366 yards and held the ball 35:23. Buffalo quarterbacks spread the ball to 14 different receivers for a total of 254 yards through the air. The rushing game put up 112 yards on 39 carries, just a 2.9 per carry average. From here it’s down to who is going to make the team, and who will be turning in their playbooks. The Bills will make those decisions, and then turn around and get set for the season opener September 9th vs the Broncos after a 2-2 preseason.
