Smith Comes Back to the Bills; Quinn, Edwards Let Go
Posted by Matt Loede on July 23rd, 2007 filed in NewsThe Bills made a few roster moves, adding a familiar face at wide receiver. Former seventh-round pick (2004) Jonathan “Freddie” Smith was picked up by Buffalo a day after being waived by New England. Smith appeared in 16 games with the Bills in 2004 and 2005. He was let go by the Bills in 2006 prior to the conclusion of training camp.
Known as a possession receiver with decent speed and a solid blocker, he also is a good special teams player, as he averaged 13.2 yards a return on punts. His rookie season he had a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown against the Patriots.
To make room for Smith on the roster Buffalo released rookie free agent receiver Johnny Quinn. They also released rookie free agent linebacker Larry Edwards.
