Pro Bowl Punter Moorman Signs 3-year Extension

The Buffalo Bills today locked in their Pro Bowl punter, Brian Moorman to a deal that will keep him in Buffalo until 2012.  The 3-year-deal is worth $10 million putting him right up there with the best punters in the league in terms of being paid.  He had three years left on his current deal, but the team went ahead and ripped that up in order to give him the extension.

“It means a lot to me to have them say, ‘Hey, we want you to finish you career here,”‘ Moorman said to the AP on Monday. “I can’t say enough about how excited I am.”  In 2006, Moorman punted 92 times, averaging 43.6 yards per kick.  He had 33 kicks inside the 20, 13 inside the 10, and a long kick on the season of 66 yards.  He has been a Pro Bowl pick the last two seasons, and holds the Bills franchise record with 43.47 yards per kick.

“Words can’t explain it. I do consider myself very lucky to be where I’m at today,” Moorman said. “I look forward to keep getting better every year.”  The move is a solid one for the Bills, as getting their special teams upgraded is a very wise move considering the wind and snow that hits Buffalo each season.
